    Senior Software Engineer

    Platform convergence
    Rebuilt an acquired UK payroll product natively on QuickBooks Workforce, so new features reach every region from a single implementation.
    Monolith decomposition
    Moved deductions, contributions and compensation policy into services, keeping the monolith in sync so nothing downstream had to cut over at once.
    Payroll AI
    Built the payroll capabilities Intuit’s conversational agent calls, and worked on the evals that measure whether it behaves.
    • 100K customers migrated, no payroll run missed
    • 7M policy records moved out of the monolith
    • 1 day → 1 hour regression cycle

    Software Engineer Intern

    First real payroll work.

    Built the migration UI for customers switching from ADP and Gusto, importing their pay and tax history instead of making them re-enter it. Added multi-factor protection for SSN, FEIN and other sensitive employee data.

    Keeping the build pipeline unblocked.

    A broken changeset used to stall everyone until someone tracked it down. Built the Kafka pipelines that detected and reverted them automatically, Zeus for scheduling and tracking Nimble OS builds, and the dashboard that replaced manual release reporting.

    Patient data from devices people actually wear.

    Integrated Fitbit and Withings readings into the Glooko platform through Validic, and built the dashboard the team used to watch error rates and availability.

How I work

Most of my career has been in places where being wrong is expensive. Payroll, patient data, storage systems. It makes you careful about what you change and curious about how things really behave rather than how they’re meant to.

I’ve learned more from watching someone use what I built than from any design review, so I try to stay close to the people the work is for.

Lately I’ve been working with distributed systems and AI agents. Making them work is one problem. Making them dependable is another.
